Umfangreiches Archiv erstmals über iDAI.objects/Arachne digital zugänglich

Tempel, Häuser und Gräber, Tierverehrung und menschliche Nekropole – Tuna el-Gebel ist eine faszinierende Stätte etwa 270 km südlich von Kairo und 10 km westlich des antiken Hermopolis Magna, einer Metropolis in Mittelägypten. Die meisten Gebäude stammen aus der ptolemäischen und römischen Zeit zwischen 300 v. Chr. und 300 n. Chr.
Einige der von Sami Gabra ergrabenen Grabbauten sowie dazugehörige Gebäudeteile mit Wandmalereien, die von Bernd Harald Krause fotographisch dokumentiert wurden, sind nun durch ein DFG-Projekt des Landesmuseums Hannover in der Objektdatenbank iDAI.objects/Arachne des DAI bereitgestellt worden.
Krauses umfassende Dokumentation war bis jetzt unveröffentlicht, darunter auch ein umfangreiches Fotoarchiv, das im Archäologischen Institut der Universität Trier lagert und nach dem Tod von B. H. Krause Katja Lembke zur Bearbeitung und Publikation übergeben wurde. Dieses Fotoarchiv wird nun im Zusammenhang mit den Datensätzen zur Nekropole von Tuna el-Gebel erstmals über iDAI.objects/Arachne zugänglich gemacht.
Ebenfalls unter den Bildern in der Arachne befinden sich Rekonstruktionen zahlreicher Wandmalereien in den Grabhäusern. Unter Anleitung von G. Grimm und B. H. Krause rekonstruierte U. Denis, die Zeichnerin des Instituts für Archäologie der Universität Trier, zahlreiche Wandmalereien in den Grabhäusern. Auch diese Dokumentation blieb bislang unveröffentlicht und ist in der Arachne nun erstmals digital aufrufbar.

iDAI.objects/Arachne is proud to present new datasets and images from an external project
Temples, houses, and tombs, animal worship and human necropolis – Tuna el-Gebel is a fascinating site located about 270 km south of Cairo and 10 km west of the ancient city of Hermopolis Magna, a metropolis of Middle Egypt. Most of the buildings belong to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods between 300 BC and 300 AD.
Some of the tomb houses excavated by Sami Gabra as well as their associated parts of buildings with wall paintings, photographically documented by Bernd Harald Krause, are now digitally available as datasets in Arachne.
Krauses comprehensive documentation remained unpublished, including an extensive photo archive stored at the Archaeological Institute of Trier University, which Günther Grimm handed over to Katja Lembke in 2004 for processing and publication after the death of Bernd Harald Krause. This archive is now published with the datasets of the necropolis of Tuna el-Gebel and available to the public for the first time through DAI’s iDAI.objects/Arachne.
Reconstructions of numerous wallpaintings in the tomb houses can also be found among the images in Arachne. Under the guidance of Günter Grimm and Bernd Harald Krause, U. Denis, the illustrator of the archaeological institute of Trier University, reconstructed the wall paintings of the tomb houses. This documentation also remained unpublished but it is now digitally available through Arachne as well.
