We continue our “Photo of the Month” series with a copy of a plan. We owe this colorful drawing, which delicately gives all the details of Urfa’s Lidar Village, to the interest shown by architectural history expert Werner Schnuchel from Karlsruhe Institute for Technology to the local architecture of Anatolia. While working in the archaeological excavations there, Schnuchel has documented this village as well, which is now under the waters of the Atatürk dam. His very detailed hand drawings show even door numbers. For instance, the legend in the left corner of the photo indicates every detail of the village from chicken coops to fountains. We share the drawing with respect to Werner Schnuchels work as a good proof that ethnoarchaeological studies are as important as excavations.

Arşivimizden „Ayın Fotoǧrafı“ serisine devam ediyoruz. Urfa’nın Lidar Köyü‘nün tüm detaylarını incelikle veren bu rengarenk çizimi, Karlsruhe Üniversitesi mimarlık tarihi uzmanı Werner Schnuchel’in Anadolu’nun yerel mimarisine gösterdiǧi ilgiye borçluyuz. Buradaki arkeolojik kazılarda çalışan Schnuchel, bugün artık baraj suları altında kalmış bu köyü, el çizimleriyle kapı numaralarına kadar belgelemiştir. Fotoǧrafın sol köşesindeki künyede köyün kümeslerinden, çeşmelerine kadar her bir detayı görülebilir kılmıştır. Çizimi, etnoarkeoloji çalışmalarının kazılar kadar önemli olduǧunun güzel bir belgesi olarak paylaşıyoruz. Onu saygıyla anarak…
