On 16 November 1972, the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, in short the World Heritage Convention, was decided by the UNESCO General Conference in Paris.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of this event, this year’s DAInsight series under the title “50 Jahre Welterbekonvention” presents world heritage sites that are connected with the work of the DAI.
In this context, Prof. Dr Felix Pirson will report on the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Pergamon und seine vielschichtige Kulturlandschaft” on 25 August at 18:00 (CEST).
The construction of Pergamon using the natural topography with artificial terraces and large monuments dominating the surrounding land is a masterpiece of Hellenistic and Roman urban planning and design.
