CALL FOR PAPERS – INTERNATIONAL MEDITERRANEAN SURVEY WORKSHOP FALL 2024

The German Archaeological Institute, Istanbul Department and the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University invite you to the 47th International Mediterranean Survey (IMS) workshop, which will be held on the 6th and 7th December 2024 in Istanbul.

The IMS workshops are biannual informal meetings, where you and your team members can present / explore / test survey-related research of recent fieldwork and methodological studies.

For the 2024 IMS fall workshop in Istanbul, we welcome papers on:

  • Ongoing survey projects
  • Desktop analysis of survey data
  • Theoretical approaches and practices of advanced innovative methodologies in survey archaeology

We welcome proposals for 20-minute papers (+ 10-min discussion) that cover these themes or any other topic related to survey archaeology, through specific case studies or by wider theoretical and methodological reflection.

One session will be dedicated to the memory of the late Prof. Dr. Hans Lohmann, who was a pioneer of Mediterranean survey archaeology. Contributions on his work and legacy are very much welcome.

Please send an e-mail with a short abstract in English of your proposal before October 30th, 2024 to ims.istanbul2024@gmail.com. Abstracts should include name and surname, affiliation, e-mail, and abstract text (max. 200 words).
