'Entangled Africa' Research Symposium im at SAfA 2021

On August 24, 2021, the 25th conference of the Society of African Archaeologists will host the research symposium “Entangled Africa: Interactions, relations and networks within Africa”. The meeting in Oxford, originally planned as a face-to-face event, will be held virtually this year.

Alexa Höhn and Friederike Jesse from the priority program ‘Entangled Africa’ (SPP2143) were able to secure 16 exciting papers for their session (see excerpt from the programme below). These address questions about entanglement and its contribution to the formation and development of human societies in Africa. From different perspectives and spanning time and topics from prehistoric pastoral representations in the Sahara to the 19th century copper trade, contacts and connections between different groups will be discussed.

The research symposium will take place on 24/08/2021 from 14:00-18:00 BST (15:00-19:00 CEST). All conference information, programme and abstracts can be found at https://www.arch.ox.ac.uk/safa-2021.
