Announcement: International Symposium on Human and Ecology Relations Through the Ages

—

We are excited to announce the upcoming International Symposium on Human and Ecology Relations Through the Ages, taking place from 4–6 December 2024 at Ege University in Izmir. This event brings together scholars from diverse disciplines to explore the dynamic interactions between humans and their environment across different periods of history.

In the first session, Felix Pirson of the German Archaeological Institute and the TransPergMicro project will give a presentation titled:
“Human Environment Interaction in the Pergamon Micro-Region: Challenges and Perspectives for Interdisciplinary Research.”

🗓️ Time: 13.20–13.40
📍 Location: Ege University, Izmir

Felix Pirson’s talk will talk about the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in understanding historical human-environment interactions, particularly in light of current environmental challenges and discussions on the Anthropocene. He will focus on the Pergamon micro-region, using this historically rich area as a case study to showcase how a socio-ecological model can provide new insights into the complex interplay between nature and civilization, especially during the Hellenistic and Roman Imperial periods.

We look forward to seeing you there!
